Artists to Watch:
What They're Doing Now

The Three to Watch section of Fine Art Connoisseur premiered on September 1, 2006, and since then it has highlighted 41 contemporary talents. (The math is off because we featured Five to Watch in the February 2008 issue.) Entering our third year, we checked in with artists covered before this summer to learn about their latest activities. What we heard is inspring, and we hope you will also admire their progress, too.

PETER FIORE (b.1955) won first place in The Artist's Magazine's 2007 competition for landscape painting, and five of his works are finalists in its 2008 contest. He was also named a finalist in the Art Renewal Center's 2007 competition. Fiore has signed on with two new representatives: Cavalier Galleries (Greenwich, CT, and Nantucket) and The Banks Gallery (Portsmouth and New London, NH). He has had solo shows this fall at Travis Gallery (New Hope, PA) and Kerygma Gallery (Ridgewood, NJ). Fiore has been commissioned to make 14 paintings for a Nantucket island resort; happily, he finds Nantucket "a truly inspirational place." Still teaching at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, he is leading more workshops, most recently a series at Mystic Mountain Art in New Woodstock, NY.
